Overview
The 11-Day Jomolhari Trek is a remarkable adventure through Bhutan’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Your journey begins with an arrival in Paro, followed by a transfer to Thimphu, where you’ll enjoy traditional Bhutanese cuisine and explore local markets. On Day 2, explore Paro’s historical sites, including the Drukgyal Dzong, Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), and Kyichu Lhakhang. The trek officially starts on Day 4 from Shana, leading you through lush forests, traditional wooden bridges, and scenic meadows to Thangthangka.
From Thangthangka, the trek ascends to Jangothang, offering spectacular views of Mount Jomolhari and Jichu Drake. The route continues through high passes like Nyele-la and Yale-la, with overnight stops in Lingshi, Shodu, Barshong, and Dolam Kencho. Each day provides unique vistas, including river valleys, limestone formations, and bamboo forests. The trek concludes with a descent to Dodina and a drive back to Thimphu.
The final day includes preparations for departure and a transfer to Paro Airport for your flight home. This trek combines exhilarating natural beauty with a deep dive into Bhutanese culture, promising an unforgettable Himalayan adventure.

Paro Airport
Day-1
- Arrival: Land at Paro International Airport where you'll be greeted by your guide.
- Transfer: Drive to Thimphu (1-2 hours) through beautiful Bhutanese landscapes.
- Accommodation: Check into your hotel in Thimphu.
- Activities: Enjoy dinner with traditional Bhutanese cuisine. If time allows, explore Thimphu’s local markets or landmarks to get an initial feel of Bhutanese culture.
Day- 2
- Drukgyal Dzong: Visit the ruins of this historical fortress, offering insights into Bhutan's past.
- Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest): Hike to the monastery perched on a cliff. Enjoy the views from the cafeteria and learn about its legendary history.
- Kyichu Lhakhang: Visit one of Bhutan’s oldest temples to experience Bhutanese spirituality and architecture.
- Lunch: Enjoy a local meal in Paro.
Day- 3
- Drive: Travel through Chele La Pass (3,988 meters) with panoramic views of Paro and Haa Valleys.
- Explore Haa: Visit Katsho Village and Katso Lhakhang, exploring the traditional charm of the valley.
- Return: Drive back to Paro for the night due to the lack of suitable tourist accommodation in Haa.
Day- 4
- Drive: Early morning transfer to Shana.
- Trek: Begin the trek from Shana, following a river through lush forests with a few isolated farmhouses. Cross traditional wooden bridges and reach Thangthangka.
- Camp: Set up camp in a meadow with views of Mount Jomolhari (22 km, 6-8 hours).
Day- 5
- Trek: Ascend to Jangothang, passing an army camp and following the river above the tree line.
- Lunch: Enjoy a hot meal at a yak herder’s camp.
- Camp: Arrive at Jangothang (4,040 meters) with views of Mount Jomolhari and Jichu Drake (17 km, 4-6 hours).
Day- 6
- Trek: Follow a stream, cross a bridge, and climb to Nyele-la Pass (4,700 meters).
- Descent: Descend to Lingshi, with views of Lingshi Dzong (14 km, 6-8 hours).
Day -7
- Trek: Traverse a treeless valley, ascend to Yale-la Pass (4,950 meters), and descend to the Jaradinthang Chhu river.
- Camp: Set up camp at Shodu (14 km, 7-9 hours).
Day - 8
- Trek: Follow the Thimphu Chhu river through a limestone valley with rock formations and waterfalls.
- Camp: Set up camp near Barshong Dzong (14 km, 4-5 hours).
Day -9
- Trek: Navigate through varied terrain with stream crossings. Reach Dolam Kencho for the night (distance varies).
Day- 10
- Trek: Descend through bamboo forests and traverse a mule trail to Dodina.
- Transfer: Drive to Thimphu (7 km, 3 hours).
Day -11
- Morning: Final preparation for departure.
- Flight: Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Singapore.
