Tour Itinerary
DAY 1
Arrival in Paro
- Arrival: Touch down at Paro International Airport and meet your guide.
- Transfer: Drive to your hotel in Paro, enjoying your first views of Bhutan’s lush valleys and traditional architecture.
- Rest: Check in and acclimate to the altitude. Explore the area around your hotel if you feel up to it.
- Dinner: Enjoy a traditional Bhutanese meal and an overview of your itinerary from your guide.
- Overnight: Stay at your hotel in Paro.
DAY 2
Explore Paro
- Drukgyal Dzong: Visit the ruins of this historic fortress, which symbolizes Bhutanese victories against Tibetan invaders.
- Taktsang Monastery Viewpoint: Embark on a one-hour hike to a viewpoint offering a panoramic view of Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery.
- Kyichu Lhakhang: Explore one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, built in the 7th century.
- Lunch: Enjoy a local meal.
- Evening: Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3
Start of Trek - Paro to Jele Dzong
- Transfer: Drive to Ta-Dzong and meet your trekking staff.
- Trek: Begin your trek from the National Museum, climbing steeply through blue pine forests and passing farmhouses and the Kuenga Lhakhang monastery.
- Campsite: Arrive at your campsite below Jele Dzong for an overnight stay.
DAY 4
Jele Dzong to Tsokam
- Trek: Depart from Jele Dzong, walking along a ridge with beautiful views. Descend into forests affected by bark beetles.
- Campsite: Reach your campsite at Tsokam, surrounded by natural beauty.
- Overnight: Stay at Tsokam.
DAY 5
Tsokam to Jimilang Tsho
- Trek: Enjoy a scenic ridge walk for approximately two hours longer than the pack animal route but with spectacular views.
- Scenery: See snowy peaks to the north and expansive valley views.
- Campsite: Camp near Jimilang Tsho Lake, with stunning natural surroundings.
- Overnight: Stay at Jimilang Tsho.
DAY 6
Jimilang Tsho to Simkotra Tsho
- Trek: Walk around Jimilang Tsho Lake’s far western end, then climb above the lake, enjoying views of additional beautiful lakes.
- Campsite: Arrive at Simkotra Tsho for an overnight stay.
- Overnight: Stay at Simkotra Tsho.
DAY 7
Simkotra Tsho to Phajoding
- Trek: Follow a well-maintained trail with minor climbs and eventually get a view of Phajoding Monastery and the Thimphu Valley below.
- Descent: Hike down through dense forests to reach the road above the Takin Sanctuary.
- Transfer: Meet your driver and transfer to your hotel in Thimphu.
- Evening: Explore Thimphu, Bhutan’s modern capital.
DAY 8
Thimphu
- Rest: Enjoy a relaxed day exploring Thimphu’s unique features, including its three lines of shops and lack of traffic lights.
- Relaxation: Stroll through the town and visit local attractions at your leisure.
- Overnight: Stay at your hotel in Thimphu.
DAY 9
Departure
- Morning: Enjoy your final breakfast in Bhutan.
- Transfer: Check in for your flight back to Bangkok.
- Farewell: Reflect on your adventure as you depart Bhutan.
