Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro -

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you are greeted by our representative for a short 10-minute journey to COMO Uma Paro. Settle into your luxurious Valley View Room and take time to acclimate to the serene surroundings. Depending on your arrival time, explore nearby attractions such as the historic Kichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, or the unique Dungtse Temple, known for its distinctive architectural style shaped like a chorten. Overnight at COMO Uma Paro.

 

Day 2: Short Hike & Explore Paro Valley

After breakfast, embark on a scenic hike through pine forests above COMO Uma Paro to Zurig Dzong, a fortress-like monastery with stunning views. Visit Ta Dzong, housing the National Museum, and Rinpung Dzong, known as the Fortress on a Heap of Jewels. Cross the Paro Chhu river via Nyamai Zam, the traditional covered bridge, and explore Ugyen Pelri Palace. Later, journey further up the valley to Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1648 to protect Bhutan’s northern routes. Optionally, indulge in inspiring wellness therapies at the lodge’s spa (cost excluded).

Day 3: Scenic Flight to Punakha Via Laya

Enjoy breakfast before a scenic flight to Punakha via the picturesque Laya village, nestled at 3,800m and known as ‘Beyul,’ a hidden paradise in Buddhist culture. Marvel at the panoramic views of Gangchen Tag, Tshendag Gang, Khang Bum, and Masa Gang mountains during the approximately 1 hour 30-minute flight. Visit a Laya temple and experience yak riding before a picnic. Transfer by road to COMO Uma Punakha for a 20-minute journey. Overnight at COMO Uma Punakha.

 

Day 4: Punakha Sightseeing

Explore the lush Punakha Valley, where the altitude of 1,200m allows bananas and oranges to thrive. Begin with a walk through farmhouses and rice paddies to reach Chimmi Lhakhang, a 15th-century fertility temple. Visit the historic Punakha Dzong, built 300 years ago, and embark on a walk through homesteads to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a royal family shrine. Overnight at COMO Uma Punakha.

Day 5: Drive to Paro via Thimphu

Following breakfast, drive to Dochula Pass at 3,048m for breathtaking views of the eastern Himalayas, weather permitting. Explore Memorial Chorten, dedicated to world peace, and visit the Takin Sanctuary, home to Bhutan’s national animal. Discover Zilukha Nunnery, the traditional Art School, Indigenous Hospital, and Changangkha Lhakhang. Continue to Paro for an overnight stay at COMO Uma Paro.

Day 6: Paro Valley – Taktsang

Embark on a journey through Paro Valley culminating in a visit to Taktsang Monastery, known as the Tiger’s Nest. Legend has it that Guru Rimpoche arrived here on the back of a flying tigress, introducing Buddhism to Bhutan. Enjoy the lodge’s steam rooms, gym, and swimming pool or opt for COMO Shambhala treatments (additional cost). Overnight at COMO Uma Paro.

 

Day 7: Departure from Bhutan

A 10-minute transfer to Paro International Airport will be scheduled according to your flight timings for departure.
